1. Introduction

QPhotodesk allows the user to create a photo show out of its digital photographs.

I implemented it after coming back from my australia trip 2002 with 400 photos worth to be seen. To have an easy way to distribute the photos into my family, I decided to prepare a linux bootdisk with the show on board.

The program is intended fullfill the following aspects

• easy assorting of the a photo show.
• interface and data structure to store additional data for each photograph. The data should be shown during the photo show.
• support multiple source directories created by qphoto, my program for the iPaq for photo organisation during the journey. The program can be downloaded from http://www.uv-ac.de/qphoto
  
• sorting of the show pictures (not implemented yet).

At the momtent the program (as well as qphoto) only supports jpeg pictures. I will extend this in the future. The user can modifiy the destination files using e.g. gimp as a plugin.

Once the photos for the show are selected and copied into the destination dir, the program can start the show.

Where to go tomorrow ?

• add some effects to the slide show
• add a thumbnail effect to the show
• sorting of the shows pictures
• stabilize the handling (e.g dont overwrite modified files without comment)
